Located in Birchwood, TN. This memorial was filled with information about the Trail of Tears. Right down from this is the Blyth Ferry crossing on the Tennessee River where thousands of Cherokee crossed on the Trail of Tears.

 Abandoned McFarland Tennessee The post office was established in 1895. With the coming of the Old Line, McFarland served as a section headquarters due, in part, to its proximity to the "W," a series of switchbacks that required additional maintenance. The town grew in support of the railroad workers, adding a general store, post office, and two-story hotel. Locals referred to the hotel as the "Government House," as it was often filled with forest service personnel working the newly created Cherokee National Forest. In time, McFarland was abandoned. Flue line access point that carries water from the Appalachian Dam to the Appalican Powerhouse about 8 miles downstream. Locals call it the UFO landing pad but this structure actually was part of a cement mixing plant used to pore cement into trucks used to build the Appalican Dam and Powerhouse.
