 USS New Jersey (BB-62)

USS New Jersey (BB-62) is an Iowa-class battleship and was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named after the US state of New Jersey. New Jersey earned more battle stars for combat actions than the other three completed Iowa-class battleships and was the only US battleship providing gunfire support during the Vietnam War.

 Abandoned McFarland Tennessee The post office was established in 1895. With the coming of the Old Line, McFarland served as a section headquarters due, in part, to its proximity to the "W," a series of switchbacks that required additional maintenance. The town grew in support of the railroad workers, adding a general store, post office, and two-story hotel. Locals referred to the hotel as the "Government House," as it was often filled with forest service personnel working the newly created Cherokee National Forest. In time, McFarland was abandoned. Flue line access point that carries water from the Appalachian Dam to the Appalican Powerhouse about 8 miles downstream. Locals call it the UFO landing pad but this structure actually was part of a cement mixing plant used to pore cement into trucks used to build the Appalican Dam and Powerhouse.
