Built in 1732, the New Castle Court House served as Delaware’s first court and state capitol. Here in 1776, New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties declared their independence from Pennsylvania and England creating the Delaware State.

 Abandoned McFarland Tennessee The post office was established in 1895. With the coming of the Old Line, McFarland served as a section headquarters due, in part, to its proximity to the "W," a series of switchbacks that required additional maintenance. The town grew in support of the railroad workers, adding a general store, post office, and two-story hotel. Locals referred to the hotel as the "Government House," as it was often filled with forest service personnel working the newly created Cherokee National Forest. In time, McFarland was abandoned. Flue line access point that carries water from the Appalachian Dam to the Appalican Powerhouse about 8 miles downstream. Locals call it the UFO landing pad but this structure actually was part of a cement mixing plant used to pore cement into trucks used to build the Appalican Dam and Powerhouse.
